Ocean passage finished successfully!

02 December 2016

The thrill of offshore sailing is a unique and incredible experience that is impossible to replicate on land. The salty spray of the ocean misting your face as the sails snap and crack in the wind, the endless horizon stretching out before you, and the feeling of complete freedom as you navigate your way across the waves are just some of the reasons why ocean sailing is a dream for so many sailors.

Recently, we had the opportunity to embark on a three-week-long ocean passage, covering over 1000 miles, mostly under sail. This voyage took us through the challenging and rewarding journey from the Gibraltar Strait to the Canary Islands, which spanned over 600 miles of open ocean. Our crew consisted of seasoned sailors as well as some first-timers, all of whom were up for the challenge and excited for the journey ahead.

We faced many challenges along the way, including unpredictable weather patterns, strong currents, and technical issues that required our team to work together to find solutions. Despite these challenges, we were thrilled to successfully complete the journey, with both parts of our crew finishing their journeys successfully.

This ocean sailing experience was not just a physical feat, but a mental one as well. The hours spent at the helm or manning the sails, the moments of quiet contemplation as we watched the sunrise or sunset, and the camaraderie that grew between our crew members as we navigated the open waters together were all part of the sailing practice that we honed throughout the voyage.

Our recent ocean passage was a challenging yet rewarding experience that provided us with invaluable sailing practice and unforgettable memories. The open ocean is a vast and awe-inspiring place, and we feel privileged to have had the opportunity to explore it on this journey. And we encourage you to take to the seas and experience the unique thrill of ocean sailing for yourself with Sailme Charter.
