The Canary Islands are made up of eight beautiful islands: Tenerife, Gran Canaria, La Gomera, La Palma, El Hierro, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, and the smallest one La Graciosa, offering a variety of attractions and conveniently located close to each other. This makes the Canary Archipelago an ideal destination for sailors who want to see a variety of seascapes and landscapes of 8 islands. And with its pleasant climate and suitable winds, sailing can be enjoyed all year round, catering to sailors of all abilities. 

The Canary Islands are located along the trade winds, making them an ideal destination for sailing. With their smooth, steady, and consistent nature, the trade winds provide a favorable environment for sailing.

We suggest you consider several routes depending on your skill level and weather conditions.




Easy Level: From Tenerife to La Gomera

Sailing itinerary Canary Islands

Day 1: Check-in at our base, Marina Amarilla Golf (San Miguel Marina).
Day 2: Marina Amarilla Golf - Los Cristianos, Tenerife (10 nm)

After a few hours of leisurely sailing, we recommend anchoring in the large bay of Los Cristianos or at Las Vistas Beach, where you can swim, relax, and witness the sunset. Optional activities: Explore the vibrant beachside promenade, visit local shops and cafes, or take a stroll along the coastline to Las Americas.

Day 3: Los Cristianos, Tenerife - San Sebastián de La Gomera (20 nm)

After a relaxed breakfast and some swimming, set sail towards La Gomera. Along the way, enjoy the rich marine life of the Atlantic Ocean, encounter pods of dolphins, families of pilot whales, or perhaps even a larger whale. Pre-book a berth in the Puerto Playa de Santiago marina. Optional activities: Explore the town of San Sebastián, indulge in local cuisine at restaurants by the marina.

Day 4: La Gomera

We recommend renting a car to explore the island. La Gomera stands out with its lush green landscapes, distinct from other islands in the archipelago. The island features the Garajonay National Park, known for its unique laurel forest vegetation, and the Garajonay mountain range (the highest point being 1488 meters) with no volcanic activity. Optional activities: Trekking in Garajonay National Park, exploring local villages, or visiting viewpoints for panoramic views.

La Gomera

Day 5: San Sebastián de La Gomera - Los Gigantes, Tenerife (18 nm)

After a restful time ashore, head to explore the western coast of Tenerife. We recommend visiting the Los Gigantes marina, known for its towering cliffs overlooking the town. In the evening, dine at a local restaurant offering authentic Canarian cuisine. Booking a table in advance is advisable due to the popularity of dining out among locals. Optional activities: Coastal walks, boat tours around the cliffs, or exploring nearby towns for cultural experiences.

Day 6: Los Gigantes, Tenerife - Las Galletas, Tenerife (20 nm)

Embark on a trek through the mystical and picturesque Masca Gorge or take a guided tour to Mount Teide, Spain's highest peak. After lunch, sail along Tenerife's west coast to one more cozy marina in Las Galletas.Try fresh fish at one of the local restaurants or buy it at the morning fish market there.

Day 7: Las Galletas, Tenerife - Return to Marina Amarilla Golf (5 nm)

Day 2: Marina Amarilla Golf, Tenerife - Los Gigantes, Tenerife (42 nm)

Head towards Los Gigantes in Tenerife, known for its towering cliffs and picturesque surroundings. Explore the nearby Masca village, nestled in a dramatic gorge, offering stunning views of the landscape. Additional activities: Relax on the black sand beaches or savor Canarian cuisine at local eateries, take an excursion to volcano Teide.

Day 3: Los Gigantes, Tenerife - Santa Cruz de la Palma (55 nm)

Continue your cruise around the Canary Islands, and set sail for Santa Cruz de Palma. This stopover is situated on the western island of La Palma, one of the most mountainous and humid islands of the Canaries archipelago. The old town of Santa Cruz de la Palma is a protected historic and artistic site due to its many palaces and colonial style buildings.  Optional activities: Explore historic sites, museums, or unwind at local cafes and beaches. 

Day 4: Day on La Palma

Take a leisure day and immerse yourself in all the island has to offer. Additional suggestions: Engage in outdoor activities like hiking or cycling, visit local farms or wineries, see the area affected by the 2021 eruption of the "La Cumbre Vieja" volcano, visit the European Astronomical Observatory, reach the crater's rim at the "Roque de los Muchachos" peak, visit viewpoints for example the "Mirador del Espigón del Roque. 

La Palma

Day 5: Santa Cruz de la Palma - Valle Gran Rey, La Gomera (80 nm)

Despite being the main tourist center of La Gomera, it is far from mass tourism, which gives it a pleasant bohemian atmosphere. The temperatures are warm and mild also during the night and allow you to enjoy this enclave surrounded by nature at any time of the year. Trying the delicious gomeras cookies and palm honey, which can be bought in many stores in Valle Gran Rey, is a mandatory experience for the visitor. Don't miss the chance to look at the unique volcanic Natural Monument of Los Órganos. 

Day 6: Valle Gran Rey, La Gomera - San Sebastián de La Gomera (16 nm)

After a restful night’s sleep, hoist your sails and enjoy a day of sailing around the island of Gomera or explore the Garajonay National Park, listed on Unesco’s World Heritage list and perfect for hiking and walking. Far from the clutches of mass tourism the wild nature of La Gomera has been perfectly preserved and offers exceptional natural beauty. Optional activities: visit  the large fertile valley that the city is named after ("Valley of the Great King"), stop at various viewpoints like the Mirador de El Palmarejo, reach the Mirador de Abrante restaurant

Upon reaching San Sebastián de la Gomera, consider visiting the historical Torre del Conde, a 15th-century tower surrounded by lush gardens. Embrace the island's rich history by exploring the Casa de Colón, a museum dedicated to Christopher Columbus, who made a stopover here on his voyage to the Americas. Additional activities: Discover the tranquil Playa de Avalos beach, hike in Garajonay National Park, or enjoy local cuisine at traditional Canarian restaurants.

Day 3: San Sebastián de La Gomera - Santa Cruz de la Palma (50 nm)

Santa Cruz de la Palma offers architectural marvels like the Renaissance-style Iglesia del Salvador and the Casa Salazar, a historic mansion showcasing Canarian art and culture. Explore the Caldera de Taburiente National Park, a volcanic crater with diverse flora and fauna. Additional activities: Wander through the Old Town's cobbled streets, sample local delicacies at food markets, or take a scenic drive along the island's coastline.

Day 4: La Palma

La Palma is known for its stunning natural beauty. Consider visiting the Los Tilos Forest, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, home to a diverse range of flora and fauna.Take a stroll through the La Palma Salt Pans, a unique landscape of salt flats and windmills. Visit the Museo Insular de La Palma, a museum showcasing the island’s rich history and culture.

Day 5: Santa Cruz de la Palma - Puerto de la Estaca, El Hierro (53 nm)

In El Hierro, explore the unique volcanic landscapes, such as the Roques de Salmor, stunning rock formations carved by nature. Visit the Juniperus forest, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, known for its ancient juniper trees and breathtaking vistas. Additional activities: Snorkel or dive in the crystal-clear waters, hike along coastal trails, or visit the Orchilla Lighthouse, marking the prime meridian until the 19th century.

El Hierro

Day 6: Puerto de la Estaca, El Hierro - Valle gran Rey, La Gomera (33 nm)

Valle Gran Rey is a picturesque town known for its stunning beaches and scenic landscapes. Consider visiting the Charco del Conde, a natural pool surrounded by lush greenery. Take a stroll along the Valle Gran Rey Promenade, a scenic walkway that offers breathtaking views of the ocean. Visit the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, a beautiful church with a rich history and stunning architecture.
