We finish the winter season in the beginning of April and prepare boats for Atlantic crossing and new summer season in Ibiza. Our Atlantic Challenge spring crews usually set out around Tenerife in the north and heading towards Madeira. There we have the opportunity to rest a little, explore the green island, and full of gasoil and supplies. After that we head to Gibraltar, we usually stop for overnight in the Port Alcaidesa in La Linea. From Gibraltar along the southern coast of Spain we head towards the Balearics. If we have time left, there is an opportunity to chill on the azure Formentera before entering the Port of Ibiza.

Autumn’s One-Way from Ibiza to Tenerife
Start: end of October
At the end of summer season in Ibiza our fleet sets course for the Canary Islands for a winter season. This is a fairly comfortable time and direction for sailing, when the Mediterranean is still warm enough and you have time to enjoy the pleasant weather for a trip along the Spanish coast. And after passing Gibraltar with the trade winds, you can head straight for the Canary Islands, starting from the island of Lanzarote, which attracts many travelers with its unique volcanic landscapes.
Normally this is the easiest and most comfortable crossing, as the winds are constant from the north-east, which makes it perfect for less experienced sailors with a desire to learn.
You can reach 1400 nautical miles for your logbook.
Can anyone participate in a journey?
Bareboat charter - minimum license requirement Yachtmaster Offshore
Skippered charter - you can hire our professional skipper if you do not have a Yachtmaster offshore license or if you do not have enough experience to sail a yacht on the open ocean on your own.
Cabin Charter "Atlantic Challenge" - we accept non-experienced participants in the Mediterranean leg, and for a 2-week ocean adventure a minimum of 1 week experience is required.
What should I take with?
Take a soft bag instead of a hard suitcase to accommodate the space on the boat. Fill it with comfortable clothes: swimsuits, shorts, T-shirts... and don't forget warmer sets for chilly evenings and night shifts. You will definitely need a windbreaker.
Shoes must be closed-toe with non-slip white soles. And as necessary accessories, don't forget sunglasses, a waterproof case for a mobile phone, a front light, headphones and motion sickness pills. Read our article "Preparing for the Atlantic crossing on a sailing yacht" for full clothing recommendations.

One-Way Tips
You can make your sailing experience much more enjoyable if you follow some tips from experienced sailors. These tips will help you in having a great yachting experience.
Ask for the itinerary
A one way charter will cover a wider sailing area and the number of places you can visit. If you are not quite familiar with the sailing area, ask us for advice. Sailme Charter’s team of expert sailors will recommend, according to the weather forecast, the best routes to follow.
Check for weather updates
When sailing alone on a one-way route, it is very important to keep an eye on the weather conditions. For example, there may be a strong headwind on your route that will slow you down, or you may not be able to leave the port or anchorage due to bad weather conditions. For sailors, weather reports are regularly broadcast in English via radio and VHF to keep you up to date on weather conditions. In any case, you will not be bored. In anticipation of a favorable forecast, you can enjoy land-based entertainment - visit the historical cities of Spain or drive around the island in a rented car.
Take with you all the necessary things
This note is especially important for a one way yacht charter as you will be spending more time at sea so you should have everything you need on board. Stock up on food and drinks and plan your itinerary ahead of time where you will stop to shop for new items. You will need wind and waterproof clothing, a hat, sunscreen, and don't forget any medications you may need.
Use the provided charts
All our charter boats i are equipped with maps to help you navigate along the entire route and find safe anchorages and ports for overnight. This will help you get to your destination and create a realistic route.
Check all expenses
Before taking a one-way charter, we recommend that you discuss all the necessary expenses, such as the costs of the skipper (if it is a skippered or cabin charter), as well as the costs of purchasing provisions, fuel and moorings in ports that are planned along the route.
In addition to the cost of renting a boat, a package charter (except for a cabin charter) is also a mandatory additional cost. It includes bed linen and towels, gas, dinghy + motor, wi-fi (works only in mobile coverage area), final cleaning, overnight stays in Salemie Charter home marinas.
And do not forget about the insurance deposit when renting a boat, which will be blocked on your bank card until the end of the charter.
